THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Customs seized gold worth around Rs 1 crore during an attempt to smuggle it through Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. The gold was found hidden in the underwear of a Thiruvananthapuram native. The gold was seized by Air Customs on the basis of confidential information.
There was a major gold bust at the Tiruchirappalli airport in Tamil Nadu this evening. The Air Intelligence Unit of the airport caught the accused and seized gold worth Rs 70 lakh. 977 grams of gold was seized from the passenger who arrived from Dubai. The gold was caught while it was being smuggled hidden in the rectum in paste form in three packets. Officials have informed that further investigation is going on in the incident.
