THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The capital city on Saturday witnessed a midnight tussle after Mayor Arya Rajendran confronted a KSRTC bus driver who allegedly denied space for her car to pass through. A case has been filed against Yadhu, a driver in Thampanoor depot for reckless driving, while the driver alleged inappropriate behaviour and threatening talks from the mayor and her friends.

Mayor Arya, in a private car with her husband and friends, tried overtaking the bus first in Pattom. However, the space was allegedly denied by the bus driver which later forced the car to come ahead of the bus only at Palayam. The car then parked in front of the bus while the Mayor along with her friends got down and confronted the driver.

A video of the incident has also gone viral. In the video, the friends alongside Mayor Arya can be seen raging at the driver. Mayor Arya meanwhile was seen demanding the conductor of the bus to delete the video which he was filming. Later, Mayor reached the Cantonment police station and complained about the driver for indecent gestures and reckless driving. Police have registered a case in this regard.

Meanwhile, the Police are showing casual disregard for the complaint filed by the driver against the Mayor for blocking the service of the bus and causing distress to passengers. Driver Yadhu has also complained about threatening talks by the Mayor's friends. Despite the video evidence, police say they want to check in detail about Yadhu's complaint for registering a case against Mayor Arya.
