ALAPPUZHA: A woman undergoing treatment after delivery, died Sunday afternoon. Shibina of Ambalappuzha died of infection. She delivered a baby girl a month ago. The baby has no health issues. Since then, she was undergoing treatment at Alappuzha Medical College Hospital.
Shibina was in the ICU as infection affected her liver. Her relatives claimed that she died due to medical negligence. The police were in the hospital and they tried to stop her relatives from protesting.
Meantime, the hospital superintendent said that she died of heart attack. She had infection before her delivery and that increased after her delivery. The infection later affected her internal organs. Her health condition improved last week but she died today due to heart attack.
A woman died on April 10 in the state while undergoing treatment after delivery. She is Karthika (28), wife of Ashimon of Chendrappini. She delivered a baby girl on March 25th in Kodungallur Taluk Hospital. After four days, Karthika felt unwell and she was subjected for a scan nine days later.
The woman was shifted to the medical college hospital after noticing severe pus. She was subjected for a surgery but died during treatment. Karthika's relatives and locals had come forward alleging medical negligence.
