MANNAR: The former president of Mannar gram panchayat, who was a victim of a financial fraud of lakhs, was found hanging dead in the pooja room of her house. The deceased has been identified as Sridevi Amma (71) of Omkar house in 7th ward. Her husband Sukumara Kurup was saw her hanging on the fan. Those who passed by the road heard the screams of Sukumara Kurup and cut the noose and brought her down. The doctor arrived and confirmed the death.
He was a member of Mannar Gram Panchayat from 2000 to 2010 and was a Panchayat President from 2008 to 2010. At present, she was running Jan Sevana Kendra near the Kurattikad's Vayanasala junction. After no money and interest were received, she asked for the amount but it wasn't given. As the problem worsened, Sreedeviamma, who sold the property and settled the liability of others. After this, she likely committed suicide due to depression.
