NEW DELHI: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's anti-Muslim remarks. Owaisi reacted to Modi's remark that if the Congress comes to power, the resources of the country will be distributed to the infiltrators and those having more children.
'Why are you creating fear that Muslims produce more children? According to the data of the Modi government, the population growth and fertility among Muslims has decreased. Muslims use condoms the most. I have no shame in saying this openly.
Modi is trying to instill fear among Hindus that Muslims will become the majority community. How long will you create fear about the Muslims? Although our religion is different, we belong to this country. Owaisi criticized Modi's only guarantee of hating Dalits and Muslims. Neither BJP nor Modi have yet responded to Owaisi's reply.’
Modi made anti-Muslim remarks during an election campaign rally in Rajasthan's Banswara on April 21. After the incident became controversial, the Congress filed a complaint with the election commission against Modi, alleging that he had made a hate speech. The central election commission then issued a notice to the BJP seeking an explanation after assessing that Modi had prima facie violated the code of conduct. They were directed to reply in writing by 11 am this morning.
