PALAKKAD: Power Minister K Krishnankutty said that there will be no load shedding in the state soon. An unannounced power cut is not intentional. It is caused by excessive consumption. The minister added that electricity consumption should be reduced, otherwise it will lead to a severe crisis.
Daily consumption crossed 110.1 million units. More electricity will be delivered. There is no alternative but to increase domestic power generation. He said that the government is trying hard to avoid load shedding.
The state is experiencing unbearable heat with each passing day. Due to this, electricity consumption is also increasing. Technical problems and electricity costs due to the increase in load are becoming a headache for KSEB. The electricity board is seeking the cooperation of users to resolve the issues. If the power is used only as needed, the occasional power outages in the feeders due to overload can be avoided.
Earlier complaints were raised from the users that unannounced load shedding is being implemented in the state. It is a complaint that there is a power cut for more than half an hour in many places from 6 pm to 12 pm.
In case of shortage, expensive electricity generated from imported coal will also have to be purchased. It has to be paid in advance. If you don't buy at a fixed rate, the loss will increase. KSEB overcomes the crisis by increasing hydropower generation. Production increased from 13-16 million units per day to 21 million. With this, the water storage in the power dams has reduced from 53 per cent to 43 per cent.
If this continues, hydropower generation will not be sustainable until the next monsoon. So it is a situation where it is enough to control consumption. KSEB has stated that there is no restriction on power supply and there is no interruption in supply as 21 substations have been constructed in two and a half years.
