NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police have issued a notice to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in connection with the circulation of an edited video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Revanth Reddy has been asked to appear for questioning on May 1. The Delhi police took action on the complaint filed by the Union Home Ministry demanding to find those who were behind the edited video. Apart from Revanth Reddy, the Delhi Police have issued notices to four other persons from Telangana.
The video shows Union Home Minister Amit Shah saying that the reservation quota for SC, ST and OBC should be abolished. The video was shared on X by the official social media account of the Telangana Congress. Several Congress leaders also later shared the video in the name of 'BJP's agenda to abolish SC/ST reservation quotas'. The BJP soon came out alleging that the video was fake. They accused the Congress of circulating a deep fake video from its official handle to create confusion among the people.
The police have also sent notices to Facebook and X to trace the accounts of those who uploaded and shared the video.
.@INCTelangana is spreading an edited video, which is completely fake and has the potential to cause large scale violence.
