THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The changes in the driving license test in Kerala will come into effect from May 2. Henceforth 'H' test will be allowed only after the road test. The shift to the new method will be different from the current road test method. The Transport Commissioner also said that a detailed circular will be issued regarding the change in the driving license test conducted by the Motor Vehicle Department.

In another important decision, the total number of driving licenses that can be issued in a day has been changed to 60. The license test will be conducted for 40 people who are taking the test for the first time and as a re-test for 20 people who have failed their previous test. Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar initially suggested that along with strict road test procedures, only 30 people should be given licenses per day.

The number of daily licenses has been increased from 30 to 60 by relaxing this decision of the minister. The minister also informed that the 'H' test will continue since the new tracks are not ready. The suggestion is because the facilities for preparing the new track and conducting the test have not been completed. The Motor Vehicle Department also conducted a driving test examination in public for officers who issued more than 100 licenses per day.

15 officers were made to attend this test. Fifteen MVIs who issued more than 100 licenses per day were summoned to Thiruvananthapuram Muttathara to invigilate the driving tests. The minister himself alleged that they are not following the procedures properly regarding the time schedule. At the same time, most of the candidates who appeared for the invigilation test failed the driving license test.
