THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Footages of the brawl between Mayor Arya Rajendran and a KSRTC bus driver emerged on Monday, raising serious questions about the previous allegations made by the Mayor.
As per her earlier allegation, the mayor denied parking the car in front of the bus while confronting the bus driver. She had earlier said that the car was parked on the side, not in any way obstructing the passage of other vehicles. However, in the footage that emerged, the car can be seen parked in front of the bus, on the premises of Saphalyam complex in Palayam.
While meeting the press on Monday morning, Mayor Arya denied parking the vehicle in front of the zebra crossing in Palayam. She even alleged the driver of making sexual gestures and said that he was intoxicated at the time. She said that the driver started talking politely only after the police reached the place.
At the same time, the driver Yadhu came forward denying the Mayor's allegations.
“I am a common man and a temporary employee with KSRTC. This is purely an abuse of power only because I talked back against their haughty attitude. Some are now posturing me as a habitual offender and are digging up some old cases which are all fake. If needed, I will go to court to prove my innocence. My salary is just 715 per trip. Even a daily wager earns anywhere around Rs 1000 a day. It is heartbreaking that we need to face all such abuse and threats for doing nothing. They asked me whether the road was my father’s property. The Mayor is continuing insulting me in public space. I will file a case with the human rights commission”
