ABU DHABI: A yellow alert has been announced in some parts of the UAE due to the possibility of rain. Authorities have advised people living in the east and north of Ras al-Khaimah and Fujairah to exercise extra caution when leaving their homes from noon today.
The National Center of Materialology has informed that the yellow alert areas will be cloudy from 12.30 am to 8 pm. Strong winds are also possible on the east coast. Wind gusts of up to 40 km/h are possible. The authorities have already warned that there will be unstable weather in the country in the coming days.
Heavy rains were received in various parts of the UAE yesterday. Heavy rain fell in Ras al-Khaimah and Fujairah emirates. Various places in Ajman and Sharjah emirates also received rain. Some areas of Ras Al Khaimah experienced hailstorm yesterday.
Khorfaqan, Al Arayan, Muwaila, areas near Meliha and Sharjah International Airport also received rain of varying intensity. Some inner areas of Dubai such as Al Lisai and Jebel Ali also received moderate rainfall. Heavy rainfall was recorded in hilly areas and Daid region. Mountain flood patches were also reported in the foothills adjacent to the hills. All educational institutions in Ras Al Khaimah had closed classes at 12 noon due to the unstable weather.
