KOLLAM: Heavy summer rain in Kollam district amid scorching heat. One person died in thunderstorms. Tulaseedharan Pillai(65), a native of Adoor Mannadi, a security guard at a cashew factory in Kollam East Kallada Onambalam, died due to lightning. At around 3.45 pm, Tulasidharan Pillai was coming out of Onambalam St. Mary's cashew factory to drink tea when he was struck by lightning. A cashew factory employee was struck by lightning in East Kallada. Prasannakumari (54), a native of Muttam, was injured. They were admitted to Kundera Taluk Hospital.

Kollam, which was hot during the day, received heavy thunder and lightning rains in the evening. There was heavy thunder and lightning in the whole district. Heavy waterlogging has occurred in the parts where the national highway is being constructed. Thiruvananthapuram and Alappuzha districts also received rain with thunder and lightning. A house was destroyed by lightning during Varkala stone work. Nadaykal Vasantha's house was destroyed. Three people, including children, who were at home at the time of the accident, were admitted to the hospital due to injuries.

According to the Central Meteorological Department, in the next three hours, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kilometers per hour.
