THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretariat has given a clean chit to EP Jayarajan in defense of his meeting with BJP leader Prakash Javadekar, causing uneasiness in the party and the Left front. The conclusion of the party leadership is that it will be created. Party sources indicate that this is not a closed chapter and the matter will be discussed in detail after the election results are announced.
Apart from the CPI, the Kerala Congress (M) has also expressed displeasure with the party giving public support to the EP. Their position is that it is sending the wrong message to the people. They are worried that Govindan's justification will backfire, and they hope that the CPM will make an appropriate decision.
The party secretariat had asked the EP to take legal action against Dallal Nandakumar and those who alleged that he would join the BJP. Yesterday, he took steps to send a notice to BJP leader Shobha Surendran.
It is known that he will seek legal advice as requested by the party. The party asked Jayarajan to sever his mobile phone relationship with Nandakumar. Nandakumar revealed yesterday that he has not severed the phone connection with him.
Nandakumar filed a complaint against Shobha Surendran and K. Sudhakaran, who made allegations against him to the DGP and others.
A good number of leaders and cadres who want the good of the party see the EP controversy as a sign of the evil tendencies that are growing in the party and the appetite for power and status. They expect the leadership to be ready for corrective action.
BJP Kerala Prabhari Prakash Javadekar expressed his displeasure over Sobha Surendran's controversial meeting with EP Jayarajan. Later, C. Raghunath, the state vice-president of the party and a supporter of K. Surendran, came out yesterday with a sting against Sobha. The criticism was that the recruitment of members in BJP is not done by brokers.
