THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After the row regarding an allegation about him joining the BJP, CPM leader EP Jayarajan has initiated legal action. Legal notices have been sent against KPCC president K Sudhakaran, Dallal (broker) Nandakumar and BJP leader Sobha Surendran, who reacted in a scandalous manner.
In the lawyer's notice, EP Jayarajan alleges conspiracy and false propaganda to malign and abuse the CPM and himself personally. Jayarajan says that the three made unsubstantiated allegations and this created a situation to portray the party and himself in bad light.
Adv M Rajagopalan Nair has sent notices on behalf of EP Jayarahan asking them to undergo civil-criminal legal proceedings and to pay a compensation of Rs 2 crores unless they withdraw the allegations.
"Sobha Surendran's claim that EP Jayarajan with Dallal Nandakumar met her and expressed his interest in joining the BJP is a blatant lie. EP (Jayarajan) is a leader with 60 years of experience in the Communist Party. His loyalty to the party and commitment to ideology is unquestionable. In April 1995, two BJP men tried to kill EP in a train. Vile accusations made against such a leader during the election are politically motivated. Even during the by-elections, there were similar moves. The political motive of disclosing the incident which took place a year ago just before the Lok Sabha elections is also clear," the notice reads.
