THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister KB Ganesh Kumar's proposal to conduct driving tests for only 30 people per day at each centre has been withdrawn. Tests will be conducted for 60 people every day from tomorrow. This is after the minister's proposal led to widespread protests. Along with this, some other modifications have been made to the test. For four-wheelers, the 'H' test will be conducted after the road test. The 'H' test will be allowed only after passing the road test. This is part of making the test strict.

The new reform is also to avoid the criticism that the road test is often done just for the sake of the scene. If one understands the traffic rules and can drive well, the 'H' test will not seem tough. The test will be conducted daily for 60 candidates, including 40 new candidates and 20 candidates included in the re-test for those who failed in their previous attempt. Kerala Kaumudi had earlier pointed out the impracticality of conducting only 30 tests per day.

No tough test at the moment

The test reforms like parallel parking and stopping at hills were decided to be implemented along with the 'H' test from tomorrow but it will not happen yet. At present, this facility is available only in Mavelikara and not elsewhere.
