THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A mob took police officers hostage and freed accused in Pudukurichi near Thiruvananthapuram's Kadinamkulam. At around 7 pm, the police took two men, who are brothers, following a conflict between two gangs in the area.

After this, people including women intervened in the incident and freed them. Only three policemen was there on the spot.

Later, as the protest intensified, the police had to release the handcuffs of the accused. A large police team led by Attingal DySP arrived at the spot after learning about an ongoing protest.

But they could not catch the accused. The police said that the men involved in the clash are accused in several criminal cases. At the same time, since it is a coastal area, the police are also of the position that no further action is needed at night.
