MUMBAI: Anuj Thapan, one of the two arms suppliers in the firing case at actor Salman Khan’s house, committed suicide while in police custody. He was rushed to the hospital, but his life could not be saved. Thapan was arrested from Punjab on April 26.
Two bike-borne men opened fire outside Salman’s Galaxy Apartments on April 14. The crime branch later arrested the two alleged shooters Vikas Kumar Gupta and Sagar Kumar Pal from Gujarat.
The Mumbai police said Anuj was seen with serious injuries and was immediately taken to the hospital. On reaching the hospital, the doctors declared him dead.
Following the incident, four accused namely Vicky Gupta (24), Sagar Pal (21), Sonu Kumar Chander Bishnoi (37) and Anuj Tapan (32) were arrested in connection with this case. The two fired outside the actor’s house on the instructions of goonda leader Lawrence Bishnoi's group.
Although Lawrence Bishnoi is in jail, the firing squad acted on the instructions given by his brother Anmol. The team were hired by Anmol. The two fired at the actor’s Galaxy Apartment in Bandra at 5 in the morning.
The accused then escaped from the spot. The police said the group had only the intention of scaring the actor by firing and they were paid an amount of Rs one lakh as reward.
