NEW DELHI: The SNC Lavalin case involving Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was not considered by the Supreme Court today also. The case was listed for final argument but was adjourned without consideration. It is reported that the reason for not considering Lavalin case is that the other cases that came before the Supreme Court were prolonged. Although the case was listed for final argument, none of the lawyers raised the issue. The petition was to be considered by the bench comprising Justice Suryakant and Justice KV Viswanathan.

Lavalin case was listed in the Supreme Court 30 times but the case was adjourned every time. The case has also been adjourned at various stages based on the request of the CBI itself. Lavalin case was last heard on February 6 this year. The Supreme Court is hearing the appeal filed by CBI against the High Court's acquittal of Pinarayi Vijayan, former power minister in the Nayanar government in 1996, former energy department secretary K Mohanachandran and former joint secretary A Francis. High Court had acquitted Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and others in 2017.

The plea seeking relief of former financial advisor KG Rajasekaran Nair, former chairman of the board R Sivadasan and former chief engineer Kasthuriranga Iyer, who were ordered by the court to face trial, is also being considered along with this. The case is that there was an irregularity in entering into an agreement with Canada's SNC Lavalin Company for the renovation of Panniyar, Chengulam and Pallivasal hydropower projects and due to this, a loss of 86.25 crores was incurred.
