KOCHI: In a petrifying incident, a toddler was allegedly thrown out from an apartment in Kochi’s Vidyanagar in Panampilly Nagar on Friday. It was the corporation's cleaning workers who spotted the dead body of the newborn on the streets.
The police indicate that the baby was thrown down after being placed inside a courier box, from a nearby flat complex. The CCTV footage of this has been released. As part of the investigation, the police have collected CCTV footage of the nearby area. The footage shows a package being thrown down from the flat.
In the CCTV visuals, it was exactly at 7:58 am on Friday that the toddler was first seen landing on the road. Meanwhile, after 8 am, people started noticing a box on the roadside and informed the sanitation workers. In the subsequent enquiry, the workers found the toddler bathed in a pool of blood. The Ernakulam South police are now trying to find the culprit behind the move.
There are 21 flats in the complex. Three of these are vacant. According to flat owners, these three flats have been remaining vacant for so long. Even the security guard informed the police about not witnessing anything unusual in the apartment premises. Preliminary investigation revealed that there were no pregnant women in the flat.
