GANDHINAGAR: Parcel bomb sent by the wife's ex-boyfriend exploded, killing the husband and daughter. The incident took place in Vadali, Gujarat. The parcel reached the house on Thursday afternoon and exploded while being opened. 32-year-old Jeetubhai died on the spot, NDTV reported.

His daughter Bhumika (12) was seriously injured. The child died on the way to the hospital. Jeetubhai's two other daughters aged nine and ten were also injured in the incident. They were admitted to the hospital. A child is reportedly on a ventilator. Jeetubhai's wife was not in the house at the time of the incident.

Police say 31-year-old Jayantibhai Balusingh is the one who sent the parcel in an autorickshaw to Jeetubhai's home. It is reported that the bomb was in the form of a tape recorder. Police officer Vijay Patel said that the information about the autorickshaw that brought the parcel was received through the CCTV footage. The accused Jayantibhai was arrested on the basis of the statement of the autorickshaw driver. The suspect was arrested within hours of the bomb blast.

The accused told the police that he had sent the parcel bomb to Jeethubhai's home because of his animosity over his ex-girlfriend marrying him. The accused also revealed that the aim was to kill Jeethubhai. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
