NEW DELHI: The police have registered a case against Union Home Minister Amit Shah for violation of election rules on the complaint filed by the Congress. Telangana Congress filed a complaint against Amit Shah. The complaint was filed stating that children were seen in Diaz along with Amit Shah during a BJP rally on May 1 and this was a violation of the model code of conduct.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President Niranjan Reddy filed the complaint with the state Chief Electoral Officer. Niranjan Reddy said that it was a violation of the model code of conduct to see a child holding a BJP symbol during the rally. According to the complaint, the Election Commission had recently directed political parties not to use the services of children and their participation in election-related campaigns or activities.

The election officials forwarded Niranjan Reddy's complaint to the Hyderabad police. Then on Thursday, an FIR was registered against Amit Shah. Other accused in the case are T Yaman Singh, senior BJP leader G Kishan Reddy and legislator T Raja Singh. A case has been registered under IPC Section 188 (violation of order issued by a public servant). Police say further investigation is going on in the complaint.
