CHENNAI: The body of the Congress leader who went missing two days ago has been found in a half-burned state. The body of KPK Jeyakumar, Congress party's Tirunelveli East District Committee president, was found. According to the police, he has been missing for two days. The body was found on the farm owned by Jeyakumar. The police registered a case and started an investigation. The case has been assigned to three separate teams.
Jeyakumar has been missing since Thursday. Jeyakumar's son lodged a complaint with the police on Friday that his father was missing. A suicide note was found at the scene. The police will investigate whether it was written by Jeyakumar himself. It is not yet clear whether it is a murder or a suicide. The police stated that the suicide note contains the names of some high-ranking people and Jeyakumar has accused them of extorting money from him by threatening him. Further investigation is being conducted into the incident, the police said.
AIDMK lashed out at the DMK government over the Congress leader's death. AIDMK president and former chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said that the incident has disturbed the law and order situation of the state and those responsible should be arrested immediately. Tamil Nadu Congress President and Sriperumbudhur MLA K Selvaperunthagai has condoled Jeyakumar's death.
