THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Even though KSEB has implemented local level restrictions since yesterday, there is no reduction in power consumption. The highest daily consumption in history was recorded at 115.94 million units. With this, a control room has been opened at Pattom Vydyuthi Bhavan to efficiently manage electricity overload. It will continue to operate until the supply crisis is resolved.

It has been decided to tighten power control through the control room from today. The control room was constituted with experts from transmission, distribution and load dispatch centres. Overload in feeders, load adjustment in sub-stations and the gap between power demand and availability at different times will be adjusted by the control room.

Consumption on Friday was 115.94 million units. The problem is that the transformer stops working and the fuse blows due to increased load. There are no interruptions in the power supply. Yesterday, 22 units were produced in the state and 93.19 units were imported to meet the demand.

It was requested to avoid decorations in the business establishments and adjust the operation of the AC at 26 degrees in order to control overconsumption. It was also requested to reduce the operation in factories and industrial establishments from 7 pm to 2 am. The Deputy Chief Engineers were also tasked to find the places where consumption is increasing and make arrangements.

"The initial information is that people have started to cooperate. We appreciate them. We can avoid the power cut if they continue to cooperate in a good manner"
