KOLLAM: In a shocking incident, two students drowned in the Kallada River in Kollam on Sunday. The incident took place at Manakkad Wharf in Pathanampuram Manchallur Mutt. The deceased have been identified as Nikhil from Kulanada and Sujin from Manchallur.

In February this year, two students drowned in the same Kallada River. The two were identified as Amal and Adithyan, ninth-class students of Vendar Sreevidyadhi Raja School.

The initial reports said that the children might have drowned while bathing in the river. After returning from school, the children went to take a dip in the river without telling anybody. A temple fest was going on in the area and the parents thought their kids might have been to the fest.

When the children did not reach home even after usual time, the relatives complained to the police. The bodies were found in a search conducted by the police, fire force and locals.
