parking

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: MVD in a Facebook post said that excessive importance is given to head lights in vehicles, but parking lights should be switched on before them.

The said Facebook post was titled 'Maraykkaruth Kannukale, Maraykkaruth Vilakkukale' (Don't cover the eyes, don't cover the lights).

Parking lights should be turned on when dusk begins, and headlights should be turned on as soon as it gets dark and vice versa in the morning. They are not only turned on when parking in malls. They should be switched on during low light hours, at night and when parked on the side of the road for a short period of time. This is to attract the attention of other drivers and avoid accidents.

Also called clearance lamp, it helps drivers to quickly understand the size and type of parked vehicle. These lights draw very little power from the battery. These reduce the risk of accidents during the day and in smoky/snowy areas. This lighting is exemplary safety even when running in low light.

Some people don't turn off their headlights when they park their vehicles on the roadside. Such ignorance can even endanger the life of a person.
