urinate

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Those coming to East Fort will struggle to find a place to empty their bladders as there are no public toilets. Thousands are suffering due to the lack of public toilets near East Fort, Gandhi Park and KSRTC Bus Stand. Many resort to urinating in the public leading to dirty places under the footoverbridge in East Fort and footpath around Gandhi Park.

Open toilet

An open-air toilet is located next to the auto stand near the Theerthapatha Mandapam. The premises are unsanitary and smelly. People are cautioned not to urinate through writings on the wall, but no one obeys it. As there is no public toilet anywhere in these premises, the workers have constructed a temporary open toilet here. This is near the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple.

Putharikandam Grounds

The only public toilet in East Fort is inside the Putharikandam grounds. Not many people know this. Traders say that it is difficult for those coming to the East Fort area to go to Putharikandam. Lack of toilets affects women the most.
