THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The final verdict in the petition filed against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his daughter Veena Vijayan in the monthly pay-off controversy to be delivered today by the Thiruvananthapuram Vigilance Court. The judgment is based on a petition filed by Mathew Kuzhalnadan MLA, demanding that the court conduct a direct investigation into the case.
Mathew Kuzhalnadan has alleged that Veena Vijayan was paid a monthly amount as a reward for assisting a private firm called CMRL in mineral sand mining. The court had requested the petitioner to provide evidence demonstrating that improper assistance was provided to the private company. Mathew Kuzhalnadan's lawyer presented some documents to the court in this regard. However, the vigilance court concluded that it did not find any evidence of illegal assistance provided by the government in any of the documents.
Mathew Kuzhalnadan failed to substantiate the claim of illegal rewards allegedly given by the Chief Minister to CMRL in the monthly payoff case or to provide satisfactory answers to the questions posed by the vigilance court. The case was heard by Special Vigilance Court Judge MV Rajakumara on May 3.
