PALAKKAD: A man has been taken into custody for an alleged acid attack on his former wife. The incident happened at Thanavu in Olavacode, Palakkad. He threw acid towards Barsheena of Olavacode, who runs a lottery shop here. The police have taken the man identified as Kaja Hussain of Tamil Nadu into custody.

Hussain reached the shop with the bottle of acid Monday morning at 7. A verbal dispute broke out between the two and then he threw the acid on her face. Barsheena, who sustained serious injuries on her face was immediately taken to Palakkad district hospital.

The locals caught Kaja, who tried to flee soon after the attack, and handed him over to the police. He is presently under the custody of Hemabika Nagar Police. The police are investigating the reason for the attack.

The two were living separately for quite some time. There were differences of opinion between the two over it. The initial conclusion of the police is that this may have led to the attack.
