THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram First Class Judicial Magistrate Court has ordered the filing of a case against Mayor Arya Rajendran and MLA Sachin Dev. The court directed the Cantonment Police to file a case based on the complaint of KSRTC driver Yadhu.

Yadhu filed a petition to initiate a case against Mayor Arya Rajendran, Mayor's husband, Balussery MLA KM Sachin Dev, Mayor's brother Aravind, his wife Arya and the young man who accompanied them. The petition demands that the accused be charged with trespassing on a bus to commit a crime, wrongful detention, uttering obscenities, destroying evidence etc. Yadhu approached the court because the police did not act on his complaint.

The Cantonment Police eventually registered a case against the mayor, her husband and five others involved in the incident on the fourth day. This action was taken in response to the court's instructions to take appropriate action in the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed which demonstrated that the KSRTC bus was stopped in the middle of the road obstructing the official duties of government officials. The case was registered under bailable sections for obstructing traffic. This action was initiated on the plea of lawyer Baiju Noel, who complained that a government official had been obstructed in performing their duties.
