KOLLAM: A man attempted suicide after murdering his wife and daughter at Paravur in Kollam. The shocking incident happened last night at Poothakkulam in Paravur. Sreeju (40) and his son Sreerag (17) have been admitted in the hospital in serious condition. His wife Preetha (39) and daughter Sreenanda (14) are the two dead. Initial reports said financial liability led him to take the extreme step.

Preetha was a collection agent at Poothakkulam Service Cooperative Bank. Sreenanda was an eighth-class student. Police said after giving poison to his wife and daughter, he slit the neck of the two.

As the door was not found opened in the morning, one of their relatives staying close by came and found the bodies. The locals then entered inside after breaking open the door. The four were immediately rushed to the hospital. Their relatives said Preetha and Sreenanda had lost their lives by then and Sreeju and Sreerag had life. Sreerag has been admitted at a private hospital in Kottiyam and Sreeju in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.

The police have started a detailed investigation into the incident. The bodies will be shifted to Paripally medical College for post-mortem. The police are trying to take the statement of Sreeju.
