THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The central meteorological department has predicted rain in all districts on Wednesday as a relief from the scorching heat in the state. Yellow alert has also been issued in Idukki and Malappuram today.
As part of the Kallakadal phenomenon, there is a possibility of a high wave of 0.5 to 1.4 meters on the Kerala coast from 11.30 am to 11.30 pm today and the speed of the wave is likely to vary between 15 cm and 45 cm per second, informed the National Oceanic Research Center.
Meantime, many places in the state are on yellow alert due to extreme heat. Palakkad saw a maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius, Alappuzha, Thrissur and Kozhikode a maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius, Kollam, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Ernakulam saw a maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius and Thiruvananthapuram, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod saw a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius. (2 - 4 degree Celsius more than normal) is likely to rise, said the central meteorological department.
