THRISSUR: Two youths were arrested with yellow methamphetamine in Cherp. Akshay Anilkumar, a native of Vallachira and Athul Krishna, a native of Chalakudy Pariyaram were arrested. The accused were arrested by the central squad of the Excise Commissioner and the Cherp Excise team under the supervision of Range Inspector Shankar Prasad. 5 grams of yellow methamphetamine were seized from them.
Excise Department conducted undercover surveillance following information that youths were involved in the use and sale of drugs near the Vallachira mini ground. Yellow meth, a highly potent and dangerous drug, is in high demand among young people. The defendants revealed that clients typically purchased half a gram for Rs. 2000. An investigation has been launched to identify regular drug buyers from them.
Preventive Officer VR George, Central Squad Member of Excise Commissioner Grade Preventive Officer Krishnaprasad MK, Santhosh Babu KG, Civil Excise Officers Sijo Mon PB, Sheikh Ahad, Krishna Kumar and Civil Excise Officer Driver Shaiju were part of the team that arrested the accused.
