MANNAR: Mannar police arrested a woman who tricked a victim by accepting money as an investment. Rashmi Nair (40), a resident of Valiyakulangara, Mannar, was arrested. The accused was arrested on a complaint related to the extortion of nine and a half lakhs from Thresiamma Xavier, a resident of Cherthala. Rashmi had given Thresiamma some money as interest for the first four months after depositing the money. No money was paid later. Following this, Thresiamma lodged a complaint with the Mannar police. The accused was arrested from Ernakulam during a detailed investigation based on the complaint.

Apart from Kerala, cases are pending against Rashmi Nair for committing similar fraud in Telangana. Mannar Police Inspector B Rajendran Pillai led the arrest of the accused along with SI Saneesh TS, ASI Madhusudhan, Women ASI Swarna Rekha and Civil Police Officer Hariprasad. The accused was produced in court and remanded.
