THRISSUR: A youth was surrounded and beaten up by a gang at Moonupidi in Kaipamangalam. A youth named Ashwin was brutally beaten up by the gang. Another youth named Jithin who tried to stop the attack also sustained injuries. The incident took place at around 6.30 pm on Thursday. The police intervened after visuals of the gang brutally assaulting Ashwin on the street surfaced on social media.

It is said that the youths who were engaged in the fight used to be friends. The gang attacked Ashwin citing trivial reasons. A dispute over one person taking the helmet and headset of another person led to the attack. Although Ashwin has not lodged a complaint regarding the incident, the police are carrying out a probe. The police said that an investigation is going on to find whether the youths who attacked Ashwin are drug users or have links to the drug mafia.
