ALUVA: Three people, including a woman, have been nabbed by the Aluva police for allegedly stealing 40 sovereign gold ornaments and Rs 2 lakh after coming to a friend's house for 'nombuthura' (iftar). Those arrested are Naseer (43) of Salina Mansil in Koyithurkonam in Thiruvananthapuram, Rejeena (44) of Charuvilaputhanveedu in Punalur's Thalikode and Shefiq (42), of Thalathil Veedu in Thalikode.
On April 1, the theft took place at the house of a native of Aluva's Thottumukham. A special team was formed under the supervision of District Police Chief Dr Vaibhav Saxena and the accused were nabbed. Naseer is an employee of a pickle company adjacent to the home of the Thottumukham native. He was given a job in the company for his experience in Middle East. The money and jewelery went missing after Nazir came home to break his fast. After that, the investigation was started focusing on Naseer.
Rajina and Shefiq helped Naseer sell the stolen jewelry. They were leading a luxurious life using stolen goods. The stolen items were recovered from the three persons. There are other cases against Naseer in Thiruvananthapuram district.
DySP A Prasad, Inspector MM Manjudas, SI SS Sreelal, ASI KA Naushad, CPOs Mahinsha Abubakar, KM Manoj, PA Naufal and Deepthi Chandran were in the investigation team.
