ALAPPUZHA: Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) has taken strict action against the youth who travelled dangerously in a car on Kayamkulam KP Road. The seven-member group travelled with their heads and bodies sticking out of the car on their way to a wedding on Sunday afternoon, between Kayamkulam Randamkutty and Kattanam. One person in the group in the car was given a warning and released as he was a minor. The other was in the middle seat so neither his head nor his body stuck out.

Oachira natives Mahin Abdul Karim, Ashiq, Shamon and M Hassan will be sent for eight days of training at the Institute of Driving and Traffic Research under the Department of Motor Vehicles, Edapal as part of the punishment. They will be assigned to the institute for five days and palliative care for three days. They gave consent to enter the batch starting on June 3. The police do not register a case and subject them to good conduct punishment taking into account the age of the accused.

The Transport Commissioner had received a complaint including footage of them travelling dangerously in the car. With this, the accused tried to hide the vehicle, but Alappuzha RTO AK Dilu issued a warning that the RC would be cancelled. The investigation team seized the car owned by Mariam, a resident of Oachira Memana, around 8:30 pm last night. The license of Marfeen Abdul Karim, a native of Oachira, who was driving the car, was suspended. He is the brother of the vehicle owner.
