ALAPPUZHA: A convict who went on the run without serving sentence in connection with robbery case has been arrested in Coimbatore after 14 years. The nabbed has been identified as Manoj (Mozha Binu- 48) of Parampil house in Keezhvanmazhi Kandam in Pandanadu.

In March 2007, Manoj is the first accused in the case where RT Varghese of Reji Cottage in Muthukkattukara in Palamel near Salvation Army Church was robbed by threatening with a machete. Although he was sentenced in 2009, he hid in various places in Kerala and Tamil Nadu along with his wife and family.

The accused was arrested, under the leadership of Chengannur DySP KN Rajesh, from Bharati Nagar in Tirupur district in Coimbatore. Venmani CIA A Naseer, Sub-Inspector BJ Antony, Senior Civil Police Officer S Rahim and Civil Police Officer PJ Satish were tasked with the investigation. The police said that there are many cases against the accused in Mannar, Chengannur, Veeyapuram and Venmani stations.
