THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning of extreme rains to lash Kerala from Saturday. The warning is that rain will intensify in various districts in the coming days. Yellow and orange alerts have been issued in various districts till May 20. The warning also said that there will be extreme rain in Pathanamthitta and Idukki on May 20. On the same day, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam will get heavy rain.
Orange alert for very heavy rain has been issued in various districts and yellow alert for heavy rain at isolated places. Yellow alert has been announced in nine districts today. An orange alert has been announced in Palakkad and Malappuram on May 18. There will be heavy rain in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Idukki on May 19. A ban on fishing has also been imposed on the southern Kerala coast due to heavy rains. Heavy rains are caused by cyclonic circulation. Strong winds are also possible along with rain.
