KOZHIKODE: Medical College ACP Premachandran said that Dr Bijon Johnson, who is accused in the incident of surgery on the tongue of a four-year-old girl instead of her finger, will be questioned today. A three-member team headed by the Director of Health Education will hold a meeting of the Medical Board today. The doctor will be questioned after that.
The Medical Board is headed by Dr Ashraf, Principal of Manjeri Medical College. The team will also record the statements of Dr Brijon Johnson, the child's parents and relatives. The statement of the Kozhikode Medical College principal, doctors and staff on duty was recorded last day. ACP said that the medical records are being checked and details of whether the child had a problem with her tongue will be known after the medical board meeting.
The initial conclusion of the police is that there was a medical failure in the operation. There is no mention in any medical record that the child had a problem with her tongue. It became clear to the investigation team that she did not come to the medical college for treatment related to this. This report will also be submitted to the Medical Board. Tongue surgery was performed on the daughter of Madurabazar natives of Cheruvannur who sought treatment for her finger on Thursday morning.
