THRISSUR: All tourist centres in Thrissur district will remain closed due to heavy rains. Centres including Athirappilly and Vazhachal be closed due to extreme weather conditions. An orange alert has been announced in the district due to heavy rains. Tourist centres will remain closed in the background of this.

The district is experiencing heavy rain and wind. Entry to tourist spots like Vilangan Hills, Kalasamala, Poomala Dam, Enamavu Nehru Park, Cheppara, Vazhani Dam, Peechi Dam, Snehatheeram Beach, Chavakkad Beach and Thumboormozhi River Garden have also been closed. There will be no entry to any of these tourist centres from tomorrow. Tourists are restricted until further notice. This has been informed by the Secretary of the District Tourism Promotion Council.

Strong winds are also possible along with the rain. There is a warning that there will be bad weather in the coming days. People should exercise caution, especially those living and travelling in hilly areas. Interstate travel is also restricted and is only allowed between 6 am and 4 pm.

It is a climate prone to disasters like falling trees and landslides. Therefore, it is advisable to keep a distance from all places where this type of possibility is seen.
