THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Complete e-stamping for registration will be implemented by the end of June. Steps are in progress to include the system in the portal to discount the commission of the vendors and credit their account with money. National Informatics Center is responsible for the technology.

Registrations above Rs 1 lakh were earlier made through e-stamping system. Stamp registration along with e-stamping will be allowed till the surplus stamps held by vendors, Central Stamp Depot and treasuries are exhausted. It is known that 150 crore worth of stamp paper is in stock. But stamps of Rs 50 and Rs 100 are not available. Low face value newspapers (5,10,20) are proposed to be given the increased value.

The registration department had recommended a slab fixing printing charges for e-stamping for vendors, but their organizations have not accepted it. After the results of the Lok Sabha elections, a decision will be taken after discussing with the organizations again. Vendors should also be trained in the new system.

Commission 2%- 4.5%

The vendor commission is 4.5 per cent for stamp papers with face value of Rs 50 to Rs 1000. The commision for Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 stamp papers are 2.5 percent and Rs 15,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 25,000 stamp papers are 2 percent. When it comes to e-stamping, the stamp papers should be taken as a color print on paper not less than 100 gsm. The vendors think that this will cause financial liability.
