THRISSUR: With the arrest of Sabith Nasar from Thrissur Edamuttam in connection with organ trafficking to Iran, more information related to the organ trade that took place in Thrissur in the past has come to light. The updates are from Mullassery panchayat and it is reported that around 30 people have been scammed here.

It is alleged that around 20 documents were forged to donate an organ and handed over at super speciality hospitals in Ernakulam and Kozhikode. It is also suspected that Sabith is related to the organ trade in Mullassery. It is hinted that Sabith is a middleman in the international organ trafficking racket.

Last November, Santhwanam Charitable Society President CA Babu had lodged a complaint with the Chief Minister about the organ transplantation of seven people in Mullassery Panchayat, but the police did not take it seriously and did not investigate in detail. The address and phone number of a middleman, a man and a woman, and the donors were given, but the police filed a report showing that there was no useful evidence. A special team was asked to be formed for the investigation, but no further action was taken.

More information related to this came out after the arrest of Sabith.

It was the special agents who found the victims for organ donation and forged the documents. It is reported that between four and ten lakh rupees were given to the donors. Those who are facing economic crisis in coastal areas including Mullassery were caught in their net.

Four of the donors in wards 13, 14 and 15 of Mullassery panchayat are women. One of them is now abroad. Residents of Lakshamveedu Colony and government land are also victims. Babu had said in the complaint that the livers of two people and the kidneys of five people were traded.
