Actor Mammootty’s much-awaited ‘Turbo’ reached theatres just two days back and the initial theatre response saw the fans going frenzy over the high-octane fight action sequence in the movie. Along with the great response came a slew of mixed reviews from some popular critics in town. One of the critics who rated the movie as mediocre was Aswanth Kok.
Fans of actor Mammootty and others who liked the movie crashed into Kok’s Facebook page and engaged in spurious conversations against the overall verdict given by the reviewer. Expletives were exchanged between fan groups on the reviewer's Facebook page. However, on Friday night, most of the Mammootty fans were in glee to see Aswanth Kok’s review of the movie ‘Turbo’ being removed by YouTube citing copyright infringement.
Ending the ambiguity, Kok lashed out at the megastar’s production house ‘Mammootty Kampany’ for requesting the video to be removed from cyberspace. While many fans adulated the move from the production house, others critiqued the haste move to curb dissent. However, some others supported the move saying that the thumbnail of the movie used by Aswanth was misleading, thus the copyright issue.
An old video of actor Mammootty championing both free speech and negative reviews also appeared on cyberspace; just to take a jibe at the current irony. Meanwhile, taking a big sneer at the production house, Aswanth Kok reposted the video of ‘Turbo review’ on Youtube on Friday night, this time with no thumbnail, and the youngster even returned fire by tweaking the name of the production company, to not invite another copyright issue. The incident has sparked a discussion within the film circle.
Turbo is currently running successfully in theatres.
