ALAPPUZHA: Hints are that DySP M G Sabu and other cops came to Thammanam Faisal's house to celebrate his retirement function. The DySP retiring on May 31st, reached the goonda leader’s house in Angamaly on May 26th. The DySP was on leave for days as part of his retirement parties.

The policemen who were with the DySP testified that their superior took them there saying that they are going to his actor friend’s house. However, the DySP explained to his superiors that he went there as the cops desired to meet Faisal, the actor.

The DySP reached Faisal’s house after two days of celebrations in various centres of Tamil Nadu including Gudalur. The DySP left in a private car with a driver along with his trusted policemen. Faisal acted in Mammootty’s film Turbo. The senior cop came to congratulate him. It was also revealed that Sabu, who has been subject to proceedings for misconduct and breach of discipline, was in charge of the special branch and was friends with gangsters in Alappuzha.

After the news of him attending Faisal’s feast was exposed, the pandal erected for his farewell party in the premises of Alappuzha crime branch office, was demolished last afternoon. The pandal was erected on Sunday.

At a time when the police were conducting a nationwide raid in the name of 'Operation Agni', the DySP attended the feast hosted by the notorious gangster. The incident that happened on May 26 came to light yesterday. With this, the chief minister ordered the suspension of the DySP. The three policemen who were with the DySP were also suspended.

Faisal's house and surroundings were under the surveillance of the police. Rural police chief Dr Vaibhav Saxena, on getting secret information of people coming and going, sent Angamaly sub inspector there. He came when the DySP was having food with the goon. The DySP rushed to the bathroom seeing the inspector. Faisal told the SI that the other three were his employees.

When the three were taken to the station, it was revealed that they were policemen and it was the DySP, who was with them. The other policemen said the DySP took them to Faisal’s house. DySP gave an explanation to Alappuzha District Police Chief that he had not gone anywhere and was at his house in Alappuzha.

When the call details of the police were examined, it was convinced that they had not contacted the goon. The goon's statement was that he had not hosted a party and the DySP had not come. Sabu, who had been working in Ernakulam Rural Police for a long time, came to Alappuzha after the election code of conduct came into force. The Range IG conducted an investigation on the instructions of the state police chief and submitted a report to the chief minister.
