THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is reported that the participation of Alappuzha Crime Branch DYSP M G Sabu in gang leader Tammanam Faisal's party is a stain on the reputation of the police force and the government.
The report given by DGP Sheikh Darvesh Sahib to the government states that prima facie, it is believed that DYSP Sabu has committed a breach of discipline. Based on this, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan suggested the immediate suspension of Sabu, which was later ordered.
According to the report, Sabu's actions give the impression that the officer responsible for protecting the public is instead assisting gangsters. The Department of Home Affairs has suspended Sabu, pointing out that his actions undermine the strong measures taken by the police against incidents that threaten the peaceful life of the people. The suspension order came just as he was due to retire on Friday. Additionally, three policemen who attended the party are also under suspension.
After the incident came to light, the DGP tasked the Aluva DYSP with investigating and submitting a report.
