THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy waterlogging in capital city, where an orange alert is in place, after hours of incessant rain. Various places in the city were flooded after the Aamayizhanjan Thodu overflowed. Various areas of the city like East Fort, Thampanoor and Gowreesapattom were flooded including houses and shops.

There was a traffic jam in front of the main entrance of Thampanoor railway station due to heavy waterlogging. Thampanoor SS Kovil Road was also flooded. Gowreesapattom and Thekkummoodu were inundated as Aamayizhanjan Thodu overflowed after hours of incessant rain. The Pazhavangadi-Powerhouse road is also waterlogged. Muttathara TB Road was also heavily flooded. People left their houses after water inundated most of the places.

Apart from Thiruvananthapuram, the rains are getting serious in Kochi as well. Kalamassery region flooded again due to heavy rains. Moolepadam is also waterlogged. The Central Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of widespread rain in the state. As per the updated rain warning, orange alert has been declared in seven districts of the state. Orange alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki districts. A yellow alert has also been announced today in four districts namely Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode. A yellow alert warning has also been announced in 11 districts from Thiruvananthapuram to Kozhikode tomorrow. Due to the influence of monsoon storm, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the state today. It will rain heavily in South and Central Kerala.
