KANNUR: It was 13 years ago that Karunakaran, a native of Taliparamba, Kannur left his job in Oman and returned home. Karunakaran says that money has been reaching his account every month since then without fail. Dr Salim Abdullah Al Harami is the employer in Oman who continues to pay his ex-employee.

Karunakaran was an employee in the household of Dr. Salim Abdullah, Director General of the Ministry of Health. Karunakaran worked here for 27 years. He was worried that he would have no income once he returned home. However, Karunakaran was told to start something of his own and was given money, when he left his job and returned home.

Salim Abdullah's love did not end there either. Karunakaran says that the doctor has been sending him 4000 to 5000 rupees from the next month. Salim Abdullah came to the aid of his old employee during the marriage of his children too. "He shows me the love of an elder brother or a father," said Karunakaran.

The doctor and his family had special love for the Malayalis in general and for Karunakaran, who was close to his family. Salim Abdullah says that Karunakaran is a very good person and he and his family like him a lot. He also expressed his desire to visit Kerala.

Karunakaran says that he also wants to go back to his employer's house in Oman once more.
