THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday, and will use a copter service to reach Kanyakumari where he is set to visit the divine Vivekananda Rock. PM Modi will mediate for the next 45 hours in the same rock that helped Swami Vivekananda attain enlightenment.

Thursday will also see the end of the election campaigning for the LS polls of 2024. PM Modi’s meditation will last until June 1.

PM Modi will campaign for the elections till afternoon on Thursday and will later take his flight to the city of Thiruvananthapuram. PM Modi will arrive in the Defense Zone of Thiruvananthapuram Airport. No reception ceremony will be held for the prime minister.

The security measures have been beefed up in both Thiruvananthapuram airport and in Kanyakumari.

Meanwhile, the AICC filed a complaint with the Election Commission stating that Modi's meditation was another form of election campaign and a violation of the election code of conduct. DMK also submitted a petition to the District Election Officer demanding the cancellation of the meditation. Congress's Tamil Nadu unit chief K Selvaperunthagai also approached the Election Commission.

During the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 and 2019, Narendra Modi meditated for two days after campaigning similarly. Both of the meditations took place in the mystic hills of Uttarakhand.
