KOCHI: Director Omar Lulu was granted interim anticipatory bail in the case of sexually abusing an actress. The Kerala High Court granted him bail in the case. Omar Lulu told the court that he had a consensual relationship with the actress. The bail was granted by a bench headed by Justice A Nasruddeen. The plea has been postponed to June 6 for detailed hearing.

The Nedumbassery police registered a case against Omar Lulu on the complaint of the young actress. She had complained that she was sexually abused many times after promising roles in films. The actress, a permanent resident of Kochi, lodged a complaint with the Kochi City Police and it was later handed over to the Nedumbassery Police. Her complaint said that he maintained a cordial relationship with her and abused her after taking her to many places between January to April. She had also acted in Omar Lulu's previous film.

Meantime, Omar Lulu had earlier stated that personal enmity is behind the case. He said that he had a close friendship with the actress and that she lodged a complaint after he severed ties with her. He also alleged that the complaint was part of blackmailing to extort money.
