THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has reported that a cyclone has formed near the Kerala coast in the southeast Arabian Sea. A strong westerly wind is prevailing over the Kerala coast, which is expected to result in moderate rain with thunder, lightning and wind across the state for the next seven days. The department also predicts heavy rain from today until June 2.

According to the Central Meteorological Department, isolated places in all districts of Kerala may experience moderate rain with thunder and lightning over the next three hours, accompanied by strong winds reaching speeds of up to 40 kmph. Fishing is not advisable in the southern Kerala coast and Lakshadweep area but there are no restrictions on fishing along the Karnataka coast.

From Today to 02-06-2024: South Kerala coast and Lakshadweep region are advised against fishing due to the possibility of strong winds and bad weather with speeds ranging from 35 to 45 kmph, occasionally reaching up to 55 kmph.

From 31-05-2024 to 01-06-2024: Winds of 35 to 45 kmph are expected over the Kanyakumari coast, Gulf of Mannar, adjoining southern Tamil Nadu coast, Maldives region, southern parts of the southwest Bay of Bengal, southeast Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea, with occasional gusts up to 55 kmph and bad weather conditions.

02-06-2024: Strong winds and bad weather conditions are likely over the Kanyakumari coast, Gulf of Mannar adjoining southern Tamil Nadu coast, south-central east Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea with speeds of 35 to 45 kmph, occasionally reaching up to 55 kmph.

03-06-2024: Gusts of 35 to 45 kmph, occasionally reaching up to 55 kmph are expected over the Kanyakumari coast, south Tamil Nadu coast adjoining Gulf of Mannar, south Bay of Bengal adjoining central Bay of Bengal and north Andhra Pradesh coast adjoining central west Bay of Bengal with possible strong winds and inclement weather.

04-06-2024: Strong winds and bad weather are likely over the south Bay of Bengal adjoining central Bay of Bengal and north Andhra Pradesh coast adjoining central west Bay of Bengal, with speeds of 35 to 45 kmph, occasionally reaching up to 55 kmph. Fishing is not allowed in these areas.
