THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of the monsoon season, heavy rainfall will continue for five days in central and northern districts. There is chance for light rain in southern districts. Southern districts will get additional rainfall during the monsoon only when phenomena such as low pressure and cyclonic circulation are more influential.
Kottayam, Idukki and Kozhikode districts received heavy rain yesterday. In two and a half hours, 167 mm of rain was received at Udumbannur in Idukki and 132 mm at Urumi in Kozhikode. Fishing is not allowed on the Kerala coast due to the possibility of strong winds. Coastal residents should be extremely cautious as there is a possibility of rogue seas.

Due to heavy rain in Idukki district, the collector has issued a travel ban from 7pm to 6 am.
